A MAN was taken to hospital and two arrested after a mass brawl in a residential street.
Witnesses told how a cricket bat was used during the brawl, which broke out around 10pm on Wednesday.
Yesterday, eight officers searched the area as they launched an ‘extensive investigation’. They also want to trace a number of Muslim men in connection with the fight.
Police said a man had been taken to hospital with head injuries, although they are not thought to be serious.
I have lived in Great Harwood for 23 years and there is certainly more of this kind of thing in this area than any other in the town.
“There always seems to be people being attacked and injured.”
A neighbour said: “I heard a lot of commotion in the street but then a police officer told us to go inside so we did.”
And another said: “There are often large groups of men walking around on the street.
We don’t want to see this sort of thing going on in the town.
“I would like to get to the bottom of this and stop it getting any worse.
“We have a cracking police force here and they need to stamp this out before it goes any further.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Police have increased patrols in the area and anyone with any information about the incident is urged to contact Eastern CID on 101.”
